What It Means:
This program is designed to help students develop knowledge and skills to pursue entry-level positions as paralegals. Areas of
study include ethics, legal research and writing, law office technology and specific areas of the law, such as criminal law,
corporate law and litigation, among others. The program is also intended to help students develop critical thinking and
problem-solving skills.
What It Means To You:
While lawyers assume ultimate responsibility for legal work, they may delegate many tasks to paralegals, who help the lawyers
prepare for closings, hearings, trials and corporate meetings. Paralegals are found in various organizations, including law
firms, corporate legal departments and government offices.
Employment of paralegals is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from now through 2016. 1
Graduates of the associate's degree program in Paralegal Studies offered in the School of Criminal Justice at ITT Tech may
pursue careers beginning with a variety of entry-level positions such as corporate paralegal, real estate paralegal, contracts
administrator and legal assistant.

Equipment Used By Students In the Program:
Students will have the opportunity to use the following school equipment as required throughout the program: computer systems,

Length of Program:
Based on the typical class schedule of a full-time student, the associate's degree program is eight quarters in length. A
typical class session lasts approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours. Class sessions are generally available in the morning, afternoon
and evening, depending on student enrollment. The courses in this program may be taught either completely in residence at the
school, completely online over the Internet as a distance education course, or partially in residence and partially online, as
determined by the school. Please refer to the Curricula and Online Course Information sections of the school catalog for
specific information regarding the courses that may be taught completely or partially online.
